Scotch Broth / Barley Broth (Basic Ingredients)

you can use chicken / beef / mutton ...
stock from bones only OR with meat as a part of the meal ...
must have barley, onions, carrots, celery, leek ...
bay leaf, thyme, parsley ...
salt, pepper to taste and adjust ...
chicken stock powder optional ...
water adjust to how thick or thin you want the soup ...

i put all ingredients in the pot ...
bring to a boil and then simmer ...
stirring occasionally until the meat (if used) ...
barley and vegetable is well cook ...
serve with bread or rice or on its own ...

google search will give you various version ..

i found two types of  barley ...
personally i like the pearl barley on the left ...
